Halo
Halo is the newest addition to the SnowAngels family. He's our reminder that it's important to stay open to opportunities that come to you through grace, prayer...and research. In 2007, when feedback from mentors and judges told us that we were getting close to the days when Sarah and Flurry would earn their conformation titles, we started to watch the boys in the ring more carefully. We knew what we were looking for.
There was this one boy who caught our eye....at the National Specialty.... and again at the Potomac Valley Samoyed Club Specialty. He was just a puppy but he had an amazing head and neck, great bone balanced with a gorgeous side gait, amazing reach and drive, a magnificent silver-tipped coat, and size that was within the standard. As importantly, he had a wonderful easy, confident-but-respectful, balanced personality, despite his young age.
Both Patty Mc Callum and Cathy Schott were spending their valuable time handling him at major competitions, so it was clear that he had great potential. He went onto our short list of contenders, knowing that when the time was right, if he was “the one,” it would become clear.
Well....less than a month later, Patty was allowing us to pick her brain about breeding. Along with great advice, she shared an idea: she had an 11-month old boy in her motor coach.
He was a very special boy. She was looking for the right show home because he needed to be shown and bred. She hadn't shown him that weekend so (she warned me) “He is really dirty.” Well….“dirty” is all in the eyes of the beholder…..When he bounded out of the motor home...you guessed it....it was the amazing boy from the specialties! One "down and back" and it was clear...he was part of our plan.
We had a long list of reasons why we shouldn't bring another boy into our quiet, balanced home. Our hearts are usually smarter than our heads...so we spent the next several days praying for our heads and hearts to come to an agreement on how to integrate this special boy into our plan. We asked mentors for their advice. That all led us, in December, 2007, to make him part of the family. His new name became "Halo," which seemed perfect...and still does.

Halo's pedigree includes his littermate Ch. White Magic's All the Right Moves who won Best of Opposite at the 2008 Westminster Kennel Club show, along with (father) Ch. Mystic Oz's Samie Caravello, (grandfather) SCA BIS and BISS Ch. White Magic's Rock Star, (great grandfather on both sides) #1 Stud Dog CH White Magic's Shanticlaire, (mother) BIS and BISS Ch. White Magic's Rock N Roll Fantasy , and (grandmother) BIS and BISS CH White Magic's Shanallee.
Thanks to great leadership from Sarah , grace from Abraham, and unceasing engagement from Flurry, Halo found his place in the pack quickly.
Halo is a confident, but open, senstive and tender soul. He is respectful of authority yet fearless when confronted with new situations. He has amazing physical power and coordination and literally flies through the air when he moves. He's such a physically impressive boy that it's sometimes hard to remember that he is still a puppy...until you look into his eyes.....and you see the dependence, anticipation, optimism, joy and exhuberance of his youth. Halo's enthusiasm, balanced with his sense of himself is amazing for such a young boy. He is a wonderful snuggler. Yeah! We love him so much.....Halo earned his final points to receive his Conformation Champion title in April, 2008 with a 4-point major - and he was owner-handled!
We are excited to know that our planned breeding of Halo to Furry in May, 2008 has produced a litter which will arrive in md July!
We've been showing Halo in regional competitions. He has won Best of Opposite Sex to the #1 Samoyed in the country.
We'll start working toward Halo's SCA Working Dog title. We believe he'll be a fabulous Therapy Dog.
