Halo is our living, loving, furry reminder that it's important to stay open to opportunities that come to you through God's plan, prayer, friends...and research.
In 2007, I started looking for potential mates for Flurry. I was looking for temperament, movement, structure, and beauty (in that order).
There was one boy who caught my eye (and heart) at the National Specialty....and again at the Potomac Valley Samoyed Club Specialty. He was just a puppy but he had an amazing head, gorgeous side gait, amazing reach and drive and a magnificent silver-tipped coat. And he was a substantial boy but still within the size standard. Yeah! As importantly, he had a wonderful easy, respectful, confident personality for such a young dog.

Both Patty Mc Callum and Cathy Shott were both handling him at major competitions, so I knew he had their confidence. He went onto my short list of "contenders."
Less than a month later, Patty told me that she was looking for the right show home for one of her boys. He had already earned 10 of the 15 points he needed for his conformation title including 2 4-point majors and 2 Best of Breed wins. When "the boy" bounded out of Patty's motor home (you guessed it), he was the same boy who caught my eye at the specialties! God had a plan...
I had a long list of reasons why I shouldn't bring another boy into our mix, but God gest His way! After a few conversations with mentors, the decision was easy and in December, 2007, I made him part of our family. His new call name became"Halo."

Halo is a confident, open, sensitive and strong soul. He is respectful of authority yet confident when confronted with new or challenging situations.
Halo has amazing physical power and coordination and literally flies through the air when he spots a distracted squirrel. He's such a physically impressive boy that it's sometimes hard to remember that he is still a young boy...until you look into his eyes.....and you see the anticipation, optimism, joy and exuberance of his youth. Halo's enthusiasm, balanced with his sense of himself is amazing AND...he has the best characteristic there is....
he is a wonderful snuggler.

Halo is a gentleman and a playboy. He's so eager to please everyone (including the girl dogs) that it gets him in trouble sometimes through guilt by association.
And he has just the right dose of impishness to be completely adorable. He loves to steal cherry tomatoes, strawberries and blueberries right off of their plants and tosses them in the air as if he's inviting them to play.

Halo earned his final points to receive his Conformation Champion title in April, 2008 with a 4-point major - and he was owner-handled ! Halo has won several Best of Breeds, and participated in Westminster Kennel Club show in 2009, 2010 and again in 2011.

Flurry and Halo had a successful breeding in May of 2008 and exactly 62 days later, on July 14, 2008, Flurry delivered a litter of 5 fabulous puppies! To see pictures of the litter, click here. Easter is from that litter.
Halo was the first SnowAngel to earn his Therapy Dog certificate through the Pets on Wheels program. Together, we visit hospitals, retirement communities and bring a little sunshine to their days. Halo works wonders!

On the weekends in 2011, we will show Halo in area dog conformation shows, as long as we all agree that it remains fun.
We are also working toward Halo's AKC Canine Good Citizen designation and SCA Working Dog title.
